DOTS (TB) – by this we understand,
D – Directly
O – Observe (through observation)
T – Treatment
S – Short Course

Looking at all these aspects, treatment is started.

First some observations of the patient are done as under.

• Having cough for more than

  three weeks

• Blood with sputum

• Chest pain

• Loss of appetite

• May have fever

• Breathing difficulty

Doctors perform various tests and then start giving TB medicine.

AFB (cough) test which is done completely for at our Hospital. The medicines are also supplied free.

Blood is found in cough and infection in lungs are called as under:

1. Pulmonary TB

2. Extra Pulmonary TB which occurs outside of lungs may appear in various places on the body. this type of patients will be well after taking medicine regularly form us .

Everyone knows that taking TB medicine for 6 months doesn’t cure the patient, doctors may extend time for treatment. Considering the patient’s type, doctors can extend the duration – 8 months, 10 months, and 12 months, even up to 15 months. These types of patients are also with us.

Every month 8 to 10 new patients are being found.

Cough tests are being done for 10 to 15 patients per month. For testing, all kinds of materials are given by the government itself though our hospital.

Every three months, a report is given that how many patients, how many observations are done & medicines were given, previously how many was observed & treated, how many are cured, how many medicines were brought and what is the stock now, all these reports are compiled and given to government TB control program from where TB medicines along with all necessary things are Brought.
